Megan Benay

InnovateEDU Fellow

Megan Benay is InnovateEDU's first Fellow, joining the team part-time as she completes her doctoral work at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the InnovateEDU team, Megan served as the Senior National Director of Data & Research at the Great Oaks Foundation. In this role, Megan led the work to build data and research systems to drive continuous improvement efforts across the organization. Previously, she led initiatives to support schools across the GO network to improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes for students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and other special population work as the Director of Inclusive Education. Megan has served in many positions in education throughout her career, including as the Program Analyst for the New Designs to Advance Learning portfolio at the Carnegie Corporation of New York, as a special education teacher in New York City public schools, and as an English teacher in Chile as part of the United Nations Development Programme. An alumna of the NYC Teaching Fellows program and Teachers College Summer Principals Academy, she holds a BA in psychology from the University of Vermont’s Honors College, an MS in education from Hunter College, and an EdM in organizational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.
